Bikini Baristas is a tale of two scofflaws.
Dick Randall is the owner of a chain of bikini barista stands in the Seattle area. Clayton Johnson-White is a teenage kid who thinks he’s smarter than the rest of the world.
The story begins when Dick’s pickup truck is discovered burned-out in the California desert. What happened to him? Did he fake his death to escape his sleazy past or did the past catch up with him?
To get away from his trailer-trash life, Clayton drops out of school and runs away into the woods of Camano Island. He breaks into vacation homes and steals what he needs.
Private detective Catrina Flaherty is hired by Dick’s wife to find out how he disappeared. When she and her partner, Ted Higuera, start turning over stones, some shocking things come crawling out.
Ted’s best friend, Chris Hardwick, has his first case as a grownup lawyer. He is assigned the Clayton Johnson-White file. He expects to do a quick plea-bargain and get on with his life. Instead, he finds Clayton has evolved into a professional criminal who teaches himself to fly, steals airplanes and goes on a nationwide crime spree. Chris, Ted and Cat are intertwined on a case that takes on international proportions.
What do these two cases have in common? In the end, they come together with the force of two colliding freight trains.

This started out with one of those kindle specials on one of his other books. While I complained about some little misses (Glocks don't have safties, a Boss 302 dosent have a 428 ci engine, you don't need to adjust for elevation with a Weatherby 340 at 100 yds), the stories were fun to read. You do have to pay attention, because he works back and forth between so many points of view, but it makes a good read. Best of all, I have had 4 very good books for about what I would spend on a single new Cussler or Vince Flynn book. As I go back and read the very early Cussler books, I have to say Mr Wallace I'd writing better in this book then one of my favorite authors was writing in his early books. With these being electronic books, maybe he can go back and fix some of the tiny details he missed in the early books. He has a great cast now, and I look forward to many more in the series.Just one thing Mr Wallace? Please, Please don't kill off the dog. OK?
Hell, maybe some day Chris and Ted can do the Port Huron to Mackinac Island race and I'll get to meet them!

A Good "Light" story with some real twists. I almost made a BIG mistake and gave up on it as I got busy with come business issues, but I am SO GLAD I persisted. At teh end, I was REALLY GLAD I did!
A great read. I like the way the fly away bandit was connected to the rest of the story. I am enjoying the use of technology that is being showcased in this series. Unmanned aerial vehicles are already here and Ted's sunglasses are not too far away. Ted should really pay more attention to detail as a PI but I am hoping he learns that in subsequent books. <smile Nice bit of conflict at the end and Chris is up for an interesting time.
Here are situations you don't run into every day, or at least I hope you don't.
Ex-wives, financial machinations, violence, they're a lot more fun to read about than to live through.
The idea of a coffee stand with servers in bikinis, I'm pretty sure that if it hasn't been done, someone will come up with it.
I just couldn't get into this book. It might have helped if I read the first 3 books.
I just found it what I did read sort of boring .
I hate to give any kind of bad review. So don't just take my word for it read it yourself, not every one thinks the same

The story was good, but the editing - or proofreading - was awful. At one point he mentioned "modern morays" and I couldn't decide what modern eels had to do with the book. I think the author meant mores? He also used the word aurora instead of aura - 2 different things entirely. I'm sure there were more, but you know where this is going.....blatent mistakes like this are very distracting.
It was a good solid read. It kept me entertained enough to finish it. Its not on par with Clancy, Cussler or Grisham I'd say. The book was a bit more simplistic than what I like, but I think the biggest thing for me was all the references to the places around where I lived. For instance, Pecos bbq... they're actually one of the few decent bbq joints in the Seattle area. And the book starts off with the bikini coffee stand sting. I still remember when that happened up in Snohomish county lol. So go for it, get the book, not the greatest, but it'll help you pass the time enjoyably.
These books just keep getting better and better. Again Pendelton keeps us on the edge of the seat with his latest book on the Bikini Baristas. I love reading his books as they are set in the Seattle area to which I've relocated to last year. Again the story line revolves around Ted Higuera, his friend Chris Hardwick, Catrina Flaherty and the respective families. Cases intertwine in this latest thriller and that provides more surprises than a barrel of monkeys. Makes you wonder if there are bikini barista's in Seattle!!
